[ xmlSE . how to . build the site ] edit

Once you create a new record, edit a record, delete a record, or configure the site, you should get a screen inviting you to rebuild the site, with a 'build' button. At this point, you have updated the xml files where the xml site engine stores information, but the changes you made will not be reflected in the html files you see when browsing the site.

When you hit the build button, the xml site engine will cross-reference the updated xml records, and then write new html files with the current html templates. Depending on the amount of information on your site, building the site can take several minutes. If you have several changes to make, it is not necessary to build the site after each change. You can make all the changes you have to make and then rebuild the site once.

Sometimes your browser will have the old page cached, so you may have to reload the page or clear your browser's cache before you see the updated version.
