definition:
With the advancement of technology, one can get lost in all the gadgets and instruments. To maintain an understanding of ourselves, we must include more humanistic qualities in what we create and construct.
Because collages are often vague and able to hold several interpretations, they are able to make powerful statements that many people can relate to. Collages usually question rather than answer and therefore help us to look at granted things from a different perspective.
Take dissimilar objects to create a new tool, a cyborg. Yet this new collage of objects should be less functional and more humanistic in its nature.
desription:
Art is not useful. And yet, we need it. We need it today just as people needed it thousands of years ago. The thing about art is that it is subjective and able to hold many interpretations. For instance, how would one define what is art and what is not? Depending on who you ask, anything could be considered art.
That brings up the question about creation. Usually, when we think of cyborgs, we think of appliances doing our mundane chores. But will we leave art making to us or allow them to participate? Are they capable of creating art now but we neglect to consider it such?
