definition:

Modification of the 3-dimentional by application of the 2-dimentional should transform space experientially but not physically so that our perceptive senses are deluded to reveal alternative views of reality.

We see the world through our experiences, and through relativity, we are able to define it in terms of what it means to us. Therefore, it is impossible to avoid unbiased judgement, to conceal our hand from occupying the canvas of the painted portrait.

Projection involves regurgitating our animate world symbolically in order to express contrary representations and thus, variant readings.

desription:

In trying to make a statement about the discontinuity of our campus, my first intent was to project captured, manipulated images of Architecture Hall onto Gould. Furthermore, I wanted to explore the consequence of projecting onto the boundary where wall meets the floor as a means to alter the projection. In that way, the object being projected on would actively participate in the interplay between the projected image and its physical environment.

In terms of visibility, the projection was a failure during the day but at night, was much more successful. Overall, this idea was a bit weak but useful as an exercise that allowed me to proceed towards my second projection.

Exceptionally frustrated with this project and with my indecisiveness about selecting an idea for it early on, I ended up making a short clip about my difficulties and projected it onto a cardboard cutout of a faceless person in Gould Hall. By doing so, I feel that my experience with this assignment was the source of my projection. I wound up mapping my frustrations.
