Mehlika Inanici is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of Washington. Her research interests include Building Performance Simulation and Analysis (Architectural Lighting and Energy Efficient Building Design), Computer Graphics (Physically-based Renderings), and Computational Photography (High Dynamic Range Imaging).
Mehlika earned a B.Arch degree from METU and she is a registered architect since 1993. She has Master of Science degrees in Architecture and Building Science from the University of Michigan (2001) and METU (1995), respectively. She earned her Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of Michigan, where she developed Virtual Lighting Laboratory, a computation tool that transforms how physically based digital images are used in lighting analysis and design. She received the Taubman College Distinguished Dissertation Award (2003-2004) for this research. At Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), she developed the Lighting Measurement, Simulation, and Analysis Toolbox. She has formulated the calibration and validation procedures to adapt High Dynamic Range photography as a per-pixel luminance measurement technique; and received the LBNL Outstanding Performance Award (2005) for this study.
Mehlika is a member of Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA) and Association of Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA).
